Your bathtub is more dangerous
Despite the wave of fear-laced propaganda perpetrated upon you, your bathtub is more dangerous to you than a "terrorist". There are no forthcoming bills vowing to protect you from your plumbing.
Canada has ample laws for dealing with criminal acts. Acts of "terrorism" are criminal acts and not acts of war. The risk of a terrorist act, tiny as it is, would be microscopic if Canada were not involved in the U.S.'s foreign adventures.
I believe the intent of C-51 is not what the CPC publicly states. It is an attack on the Canadian Charter. Stephen Harper,
vindictive to the core, has been stymied on several occasions by the Supreme Court and its interpretation of the Charter. In the same way that he removed environmental protections that "got in the way" he is now going after the Charter. "Terrorism", like "pornography" (used as an excuse to wrest control of the Internet) is merely the vehicle.
C-51 adds nothing to our security worth the civil liberties we will be losing from now on. Remember, CSIS and CSEC have already stepped outside of existing law. C-51 will give them a veil of secrecy. There will be little or no oversight. You don't oversee the "secret police".
Remember this: once C-51 is enacted it becomes the means by which this Government, and future governments, can and will expand the security state. We have only to look south to see the end result
I encourage Canadians to learn more about how we can work together to stop Secret Police Bill C-51 at: StopC51.ca
