About Us
The Bulletin d’Aylmer serves the rapidly growing and bilingual Aylmer sector of Gatineau, Quebec, across from Ottawa. The Bulletin is an independently owned award-winning newspaper and website devoted to presenting the most relevant, factual, and balanced local news and opinion, as well as columns and letters, to its community.
The Bulletin’s mission statement is ” Vivre en harmonie / Living in Harmony “. This reflects the reality in Aylmer where two heritages have created a growing and vibrant community. Aylmer sector has the highest family income, education levels, and home ownership stats of any part of Gatineau.
The Bulletin d’Aylmer (and its two sister newspapers) is a member of the Quebec Community Newspaper Association, the Canadian Community Newspaper Association, and APICA (Association of Aylmer Professionals, Industrialists and Businesses).
Audited by CMCA, the Bulletin delivers 21,118 copies every week via Publi-sac. Like Aylmer residents, the paper is bilingual, yet articles do not always appear in both languages. Most readers read in both official languages and thus appreciate higher-quality content rather than simple translation. For this reason, both the newspaper and the website contain content in French and English. Readers make the Bulletin an interactive media with their large number of letters on many subjects. The Bulletin d’Aylmer is independently owned by Sophia and Lily Ryan, with both French and English speaking reporters and proof-readers. Several polls, including one conducted recently by Leger Marketing for la Ville de Gatineau, have shown the Bulletin to be Aylmer’s single most popular and trusted media.
