EDITORIAL DEPARTMENT – WRITING THE HEADLINES

Fred Ryan – Publisher emeritus, copy-editor, editorialist 

I’ve been both publisher/owner and editor of the Bulletin – now my daily work includes copy editing the articles and every letter we publish, as well completing an editorial for each issue. My career in journalism began in Latin America in the sixties, and included journalism for the Toronto Star, Guadalajara Daily Reporter, the New York Guardian and several weeklies, plus a regular column until recently in the Ottawa Citizen on Outaouais affairs.

Lily Ryan – Co-Publisher Editor

My sisters and I joke that we grew up under the fax machine at the Pontiac Journal, in Fort-Coulonge. Growing up in a family newspaper is a vibrant place, one that has kept me in the newsroom. I worked in virtually every post along the way, from the dark room, to the police report, to pasting up with the wax machine, even sales and collections. After exploring the world and completing two undergraduate degrees at McGill University, I spent five years as editor of the Pontiac Journal and then took a few years off to start a family. Now, I work as editor of the West Quebec Post and  of the third newspaper run by my family, the Bulletin d’Aylmer.  I am co-owner/publisher of these three wonderful newspapers. 

 

Carolle Bertrand – Translator and Columnist

For the most part, I contribute to the Bulletin by helping out with the translation and proof reading. This bilingual newspaper is a real gift to our bilingual community. I am pleased to be a part of the Bulletin's dedicated team. I also write a column Clin d’oeil de la Vie, a new and very rewarding experience for me and I am impressed with the support of the community in this venture.
