Why that death, and not this one?"
I liked Mr Ryan’s comment in the 4 May issue, “Why that death, and not this one?”
Alternative medicine is gaining popularity because of the results people get from it. Doctors are not allowed recommending to their patients natural remedies because: a) they are not trained in the area, and b) because the Big Pharma would not allow that, being in control.
However, there is hope on the horizon, that both the allopathic and holistic approach may soon join forces, complementing each other for the benefit of the patients. I read recently in a paper that there is a plan to employ naturopathic nurses in hospitals in team with the medical doctors, to help patients going through chemotherapy, with supplements and other helpful techniques. And that is encouraging because when my husband was taking the chemotherapy in 2008, he was strictly forbidden to take any natural supplements, and he suffered from very unpleasant side effects.
A personal note: I like your Bulletin editorials; they reflect care and global thinking.
