What motivates land planners?

 

I applaud the anonymous North Aylmer resident who reported the alleged illegal destruction of a natural area by Brigil. But a maximum fine of $5,000 for clear-cutting 45 acres? What a joke! That's pocket change for companies who ignore public weal and community infrastructure while chasing profit by building charmless cookie-cutter barracks all over the place.

Last week Nino Pasquarelli and Nesma Etoubashi described the situation well in your paper. The City supports developers while being carelessly slow with Guertin, Marina, library, clinics, Parc-o-bus, Lucerne repaving, Vanier’s road repairs, etc. Anyone care to add to this list?

I wonder what compels city staff to support developers more than civic infrastructure?
