We're lucky to live in Aylmer ... so are you
When I moved to Aylmer as a new Mom some friends recommended I join the "Aylmer Mommies". The group is an excellent resource for tips if your toddler is a fussy eater or you need a recommendation for snow removal. The group is also a place local women lean on each other; the group brings out the best in the community. For example, once there was an anonymous post from an exhausted single Mom who wanted to rant about how tired she as; the owner of a local spa offered her a free massage. Other women offered free daycare so she could take up this offer. Another Mom wrote about her kid being bullied; the owner of a local games shop then offered the kid a gift at his shop.
In Aylmer, you find this sense of community in many places. Remember last winter's big snow storm? One business owner spent the day clearing driveways and shovelling walkways for senior and low mobility neighbours and customers.
We all went through a long power outage, anyone without generator lost the contents of their fridge and freezer. A local business owner bought thousands of dollars of gift cards from our local grocery store (who also lost a lot due to the power outage) and gave out $200 gift cards to hundreds in the community. That store donates daily to the Aylmer Community Fridge. At the helm our community is one of the most thoughtful Members of Parliament, Greg Fergus. He and his office are so accessible and helpful!
We're all lucky to live in Aylmer, and so are you!
