Ward 1 election race is on!
François Sylvestre running in Aylmer Ward for Action Gatineau
Businessman François Sylvestre accepted the nomination to run in Aylmer Ward for the Action Gatineau party, March 30. About 30 people showed their support at Sylvestre’s campaign launch at the British Pub. He hopes to replace outgoing councillor Josée Lacasse on city council.
With extensive business experience under his belt, this Glenwood-area man now takes his first steps into municipal politics. The five businesses he runs are DMS Bookkeeping, Activec, Nuapro, Pastina, and Services Pragma. Mr Sylvestre’s volunteer work includes sitting as a director on Entraide familiale de l’Outaouais, Fondation du CEGEP de l’Outouais, Centre des Jeunes Dirigeants du Québec, and, as of the March 29 AGM, APICA. He was formerly a board member of Alternative Outaouais and Association canadienne des étudiantes et étudiants francophones en education physique.
François Sylvestre’s education includes Collège Saint-Alexandre, the CEGEP de l’Outaouais and Ottawa University. He served as an officer with the Canadian Forces from 1985 to 1992.
Launching his campaign, Mr Sylvestre told his supporters that as part of the Action Gatineau party, he will bring to city council strong economic and community experience. He was introduced by Ward 3 councillor Richard Bégin, as well as mayor Maxime Pedneaud-Jobin.
