Volunteers needed to complete income tax returns
There’s still time to make a difference in people’s lives and to register as a volunteer with the Income Tax Assistance – Volunteer Program offered by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and Revenu Québec.
The program helps low-income individuals file their income tax returns so they can receive the benefits and tax credits to which they are entitled. Program volunteers receive online training on completing simple tax returns, equipping them to help people who are unable to complete their returns themselves, but cannot afford the services of a professional.
Last year, over 3,350 volunteers from 514 community organizations helped complete federal and provincial income tax returns for more than 160,000 individuals throughout Quebec. In all, more than 348,000 returns were completed and filed with the CRA and Revenu Québec.
