LETTER
Victims groups on gun control (Bill C-71)
On the eve of the hearings into federal Bill C-71 on gun control, we invite you to read the brief of Poly Remembers which represents victims of gun violence and their families: http://polysesouvient.ca/Documents/MEMO_18_05_06_Brief_C71.pdf
We understand that many MPs have been inundated with letters and emails from gun owners who oppose the bill, and we fear that there has been a lot of misinformation about the proposed measures - misinformation generated by pro-gun groups. While much fewer in numbers, victims whose lives or families have been shattered by gun violence have a particularly relevant perspective on the issue of gun control, as their sole purpose is to prevent others from suffering as they have. We hope that the minister and the members of the Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security (SECU) will agree to make significant improvements to the bill in the interest of the safety of all Canadians.
