Venezuela: Canada sponsors a coup?
I would like to say that I am surprised by Canada’s involvement with the interference in the sovereign country of Venezuela, but I’m not. Sadly, it’s the same Canada of our colonial past, and our neoliberal present. Canada has no “moral” high ground here. Our actions in Venezuela as well as within our boarders, on behalf of international capital -- think pipelines here and regime change abroad -- is corrupt.
The Canadian government may not like Maduro, but they have no right to orchestrate a coup, releasing actions that could be catastrophic for the Venezuelan people. We don’t know. What we can guess is that only a government that is subservient to international capital will be tolerated by their representatives in Canada and other neoliberal-controlled countries. A truly democratic Venezuelan party, especially a poor peoples party, will not be tolerated. The first element to be sold to international capital will be Venezuela’s oil resources. Canada is lining up to facilitate the plunder in the name of “democracy” and “liberty”... by a coup.
Shame on Canada.
