Upgrades for two Aylmer parks
Within its four-year (2015-2018) plan for parks and recreation, sports and community infrastructures, Gatineau has set aside $26,000 to demolish the large public seating stands and add small stands at Allen Park in 2018.
Located near the Allen and McConnell Roads intersection, Allen Park already has a basketball field, tennis courts, an outdoor rink, a baseball field and two natural soccer fields. One of the soccer fields is named after Paul Hines, an active member of the Aylmer Soccer Club who died tragically in 2011.
The City also plans renovations in 2018 to the Lucerne Nord Park, located at 674, des Écureuils Street. Gatineau wants to replace the fences and the separator and change the lighting system as well as paving and marking the fields. Gatineau has set aside $228,000 for the project.
The large Lucerne Nord Park includes play structures, basketball fields, tennis courts, and soccer and baseball fields.
