Universal Basic Income for all
I am convinced that the recently proposed Universal Basic Income for all Canadians is an excellent idea!
The recent study by The Canadian Centre for Economic Analysis reveals that since its introduction in 2016, the revamped Child Benefit has been a major stimulus for Canada, contributing an average $46 billion a year to GDP.
As many Canadian families today struggle to cope with changes brought about by global competition, automation, and increasing precarious gig-work, cash transfers through the Universal Basic Income will bring economic security to Canadians while bolstering the economy.
Implementing a Basic Income is not a social program. It is a means of balancing the economic inequities that exist, while providing economic opportunity for all Canadians.
