Two-day lac-à-l’épaule for elected municipal officials
The city’s elected officials gathered in Wakefield, at the Wakefield Mill Hotel and Spa, on November 22 and 23, for a two-day strategic planning meeting called a lac-à-l’épaule in French. The main item on the agenda was the need for in camera meetings. During the closed-door retreat, discussions were held in camera. This type of event is a meeting in a secluded place between invested partners for the purpose of discussing future planning. The Quebec expression dates back to 1962, when members of Jean Lesage’s cabinet met to discuss political strategies in a Lac-à-l’Épaule fishing camp in Jacques-Cartier National Park.
