LETTER
Trudeau, the reformer?
I see Mr Steve d’Eça has rewarded us with another of his rewritings of an Ottawa Sun commentary, this time chastising Justin Trudeau for not being a Conservative. Oh hum, I guess if your readers don’t read the Sun, his contributions are relevant.
My own view is that Trudeau is a little too close to the Harper playbook than we expect. The natural gas terminal OK is a real slap in the face to his supporters, even if Elizabeth May has excused this insult to the Paris accords and our carbon targets. Let’s see what he and his party (listening, Mr Fergus?) do about improving the voting system. I’m sure the Liberals are as much afraid of proportional representation as the Conservatives – it would end their two-party charade of democracy and might question their right and ability to rule single-handedly, as both parties love to do, keeping parliament’s seats warm for each other, while most Canadians have their choices stored in the trash.
