Trucker's convoy protests
I am very disappointed in our "national media's" reporting on the protest last weekend a cross Canada and in Ottawa. Against all warnings by the media, my wife and I drove over to Ottawa just to see what was going on. We are not in favour of the protest's goals, and we feel vaccinations are so far the only weapon we have against this pandemic. Yes, we found the streets crowded, but not really choked up, as the media was reporting. Nor did we find any of the protesters ill-behaved or rude. There are always a few bad apples in any big crowd, and especially one with such an inflammatory plan (to stay until their goals are met by government). But it appeared to us that the reporters we heard or saw later had sought out opportunities to show bad behavour, especially after telling us that there was "so much" hostility and rudeness in the crowds.
This is the cost of living in the capital of a country ... people will protest every thing you can imagine. And it is their right to do so. Perhaps we should not have added our car to the traffic slow-downs, but it was an enlightening experience for us both. We are now much more skeptical of big-media's reporting. And don't get me started on their reporting about the Ukraine!
