LETTER
Tree felled in Wychwood
I am the tenant at the property where the tree was cut down (and reported on in the Bulletin).
Despite what neighbours said, the tree was not healthy; it had lost over 30% of its branches during the last ice storm and was leaning towards the hydro lines on the street. No, the landlord did not have a permit at the time the tree was cut, but he did apply for one. The city inspector did come out and checked the tree and discovered it was hollow inside, which made it extremely unsafe. Maybe the next time you run a story, you should get all the facts first.

Editor replies: Thank you, Gary. I tried contacting the owner, but didn't get through by press time. I then contacted the city. I appreciate your contacting me, as I didn't have your own contact information.
