LETTER
Travelling at home
Stimulated by your recent editorial about staying around home for summer holidays and informed by several pages of travel suggestions to the nearby regions of Pontiac and the Gatineau Hills, my wife, our three-year old and I, did indeed take two tours as the Bulletin suggested.
We had been to Chelsea and Wakefield for skiing in the winter, but had never once been up to the Pontiac MRC. Both trips were real eye-openers.
I suggest that we Canadians are too dismissive of what we have in our own country. After all, millions of tourists come here from around the world, so why should we leave and go elsewhere when we have so much territory still to explore? We think if it is somewhere else it must be better!
I am not sure about this talk of boycotting the USA because of their offensive president and his policies; that attitude can cut both ways. We depend on American tourists everywhere in Canada.
Thanks, Bulletin, for opening our eyes to what we already have! Great job!
