LETTER
Time to police cyclists
It is time to regulate cyclists. We have so many bicycles on the road, it is about time the police start dealing with infractions. I live in a condo off Lucerne Blvd and see far too many air-heads cycling. It seems that some insist on riding on the white line and vehicles must move to their left.
Who do they think they are? Some are so stupid they ride in the car lane – even worse, towing a child, and this at peak hours. The baby at the level of exhaust pipes is breathing carbon monoxide. Do these people not realize they could be damaging that baby’s brain? Shame!
Would Councillor Richard Bégin please table at council, at the earliest, a motion to police cyclists?
If the Council can spend hundreds of thousand of dollars for speed camera vans (nothing but a cash grab), it can spend dollars to save a child's life.
The aforementioned incidents are only a few cyclist issues that council needs to deal with -- immediately.
I am sure if this newspaper were to ask the police what they think of cyclist behaviour, the answer would be scary.
Most cyclists ride with care; it is unfortunate that a few can ruin the reputation of all.
