LETTER
Three Mile Island anniversary
I write to you on March 28, on the anniversary of the Three Mile Island nuclear plant meltdown, on this day in 1979. It was and remains the worst nuclear accident in the US for commercial nuclear operations. I ask your readers to keep this in mind when they consider the two nuclear projects proposed upstream at Chalk River and at the ghost town of Rolphton, Ontario. You have reported the new information of toxic leaks into the Ottawa River from these places – more than ample reason to demand the utmost rigour in any such entombment or radioactive land-fill projects. Commercial, for-profit operations inevitably try to cut corners for their bottom line. Look at the corporate history of the actual partners! Why are our MPs and MNA struck dumb on both projects? Are these men not our leaders? Are they up to the task? Please, sirs, rise to the occasion!
