The more things change, the more they stay the same . . .
The Liberals’ move to the right, now that they are in power, is sad, but what is sadder is my not feeling even the least surprised. I refer to the Liberals’ adoption of many Conservative measures – environment and climate change, in particular.
This is precisely why very few young people vote. They know that it will change very little - the status quo lives on, no matter who's at the head.
And if there only was a way to change it (short of full-on national revolt that would include everyone -- which we realize will and could never happen) and to make public opinion more powerful (as, say, in the Scandinavian countries)... ah, if only . . .
How to effect change is certainly a well-kept secret in Canada.
