LETTER
Thank you, directors of local school boards!
On mornings like this, November 29th, when weather is bad and driving unsafe, I am astounded at the number of times Ottawa school boards have removed school bus service, while keeping all schools open. By cancelling the buses on the morning of the bad weather, the skills of professional drivers and the safety of their vehicles are removed from our roads, and 10s, perhaps 100s, of extra vehicles are added to the traffic. Parents are saddled with the added risk and stress of getting their kids to school, likely in a rush because of the last minute changes to their schedule.
In the six years I've lived here, I have never once heard of the Quebec school boards cancelling buses during dangerous road conditions. It is small things like this that make me a very content Aylmerite.
