Telus tower:
Connaught Association, tower, cut to bus service
Mitch Kirady, recently elected president of the Connaught Area Residents’ Association, said that his organization has several important projects for this summer. The Association was formed in 2012 and has seven members.
Last year, said Mr Kirady, the Association promoted relationships within the neighbourhood, but this year, efforts will have a political focus – like the relocation of a Telus radio tower to their neighbourhood.
Telus has informed residents of rue du Sulky that their neighbourhood will soon host a Telus radio tower. It is planned very close to rue du Sulky on Chemin Rivermead, on a corner just northwest of the Rivermead Golf Club.
The Association feels that all residents should have been informed of these changes, and not just those on rue du Sulky. He also noted that the radio tower poses a risk to their health and will damage property values.
The Association wrote Telus, May 25, opposing a tower on Rivermead, suggesting instead a vacant lot beside the DoubleTree Hilton Hotel on Aylmer Road. The Association asked Telus to reply by June 15.
In addition to the Telus radio tower, the Association also intends to address plans by the STO to cut bus service in their area. The Connaught Area Residents’ Association also plans social events for the year, including a neighbourhood party in early July and a Halloween Party.
