Super-promise
A super-clinic in Aylmer in two years?
The Ministry of Health and Social Services, (MSSS), wants a super-clinic in Aylmer, and by 2018. The Ministry identified five potential zones across Gatineau for the location of the super-clinics, and one is in Aylmer.
“A super-clinic is planned for Aylmer,” announced André Fortin, Pontiac MNA. But in order for a super-clinic to see the light of day in Aylmer, a group of doctors must show their interest.
“The MSSS has not received a super-clinic proposal for Aylmer,” reports Marie-Claude Lacasse, spokesperson for the MSSS.
“Now with the zones identified, it will happen eventually. It’s just a question of time,” insisted Mr Fortin, without mentioning any dates.
The MNA explained that a super-clinic must offer public and free health services.
The Carrefour santé Aylmer can therefore not be considered as a super-clinic since this clinic offers private services. The doctors managing the Carrefour must change their business model if they want to become a super-clinic. “There is nothing on the table that would lead us to believe such a change is coming,” said the MNA.
The MSSS announced that “establishing super-clinics (GMF-Réseau) will optimize access to front line services. Super-clinics will offer prolonged hours and on-site access to sampling and medical imaging services.”
