Summer season kick-off
The Symmes Inn Museum officially opened its doors for the summer season on Sunday, June 9.
Despite the very hot weather, the event attracted a large number of people, many dressed in period clothing to enjoy a wide range of activities, including a purification ceremony, according to the Aboriginal ritual, including sacred songs and drums, entertainment with Théâtre Dérives Urbaines as well as the presentation of various stories, legends, folk music and old crafts.
This day also marked the unveiling of the new exhibition Par forêts et rivières: des hommes de courage, which highlights the contributions of lumberjacks, loggers and raftsmen to the development of the forest industry in the Outaouais.
