Students helping students:
Twitti School goals achieved!
Old Aylmer’s École internationale du Village school has students dedicated to education, and not just locally. These students, with the guidance of teachers Steve Wadlow and Richard Choquette, have hit their target of $2,000 needed to sponsor the educational costs of four children at Twitti School in Zambia.
The project began last year and with the collected funds, they will continue supporting the same four children to ensure their continued ability to attend school.
The fundraising campaign (mostly from refundable beverage containers and small change collected by students) continues until November 26.
These additional funds will go to a local organization. “Students will be consulted and will help decide which local group gets this extra money they raise,” Mr Wadlow told the Bulletin. Last year, they were able to give a donation of $640 to the Aylmer Food Bank. “They learn to consult, set goals and grow community with this effort with this effort at both the local and international level.”
During the first week of November, students each donated one pencil. The pencils were packaged with other school supplies and sent to Twitti School to help further support these children living in very poor conditions in Zambia.
