STO reports route cancellations
Calling Gatineau’s bus service a “gradual return to normal”, the STO has reported its peak-period service record for Thursday, April 20. Because of the slowdown in bus fleet maintenance over the past several weeks, due to labour slowdowns during year-old contract talks, not all of the Société de transport de l’Outaouais (STO) buses have been on the road.
The STO advises that, given this transition period, trip cancellations “should still be anticipated for a few weeks”. Efforts are being made daily, the management reports, to implement every means available to return to normal service as soon as possible. Fare compensation for riders will continue until May 31, 2017.
The STO’s review of service for the afternoon peak period, Wednesday, April 19, indicates 21 cancelled trips across the entire system, with13 buses unavailable for use.
The overview of bus service for Thursday, April 20, the morning peak period, shows 22 trips cancelled in the system, with 4 buses unavailable.
During the week, until further notice, riders should check the tables at sto.ca listing the trips that have been cancelled during the morning and evening peak periods. If resources become available, everything will be done to provide these trips. Any other additional cancellations will be announced by personalized System-Info alerts. This information will also be available at www.sto.ca.
