LETTER
Stirling coated public transit
It’s nice that Mayor Watson & Ottawa’s councillors can take a ride on the 12.7 km new LRT subway network. The mayor praised the technology ... and how it feels “like another city”... maybe he should think more of the overall price tag that taxpayers have put into this, rather than the overall feeling? The very short distance underground rail line, a diamond-coated subway for $2.1 billion dollars. When it finally opens, I hope this transit system is sparkling like a diamond and goes without delays or problems. Then there’s the multi-million dollar subway stations.. a total waste of money!.. in a few years they’ll look like depressed dumps covered in dirt and graffiti. Sorry Mr Mayor, but at $186 million per kilometre, I don’t think you care a bit about saving money.
Oh no! Now Gatineau is talking about something similar!
