Squabble over drugs turns violent in Aylmer
A drug deal became a drug theft, say witnesses of a stabbing, May 11, around 8:20 pm. What appeared to be a meeting between a few young men deteriorated when, as witnesses told the Bulletin, one man smashed the window of a car parked near the rear entrance to the Galeries Aylmer.
“There was yelling and a few people running through the mall,” said one witness. “At one point it was hard to see what was going on. A brick of green stuff in a clear package was dropped on the floor inside the mall, another person was waving a gun around, and then one guy was stabbed. That’s when a couple of the people took off and left the mall by the Jean-Coutu Pharmacy.”
Gatineau police spokesperson Andrée East told the Bulletin that police have very little information about those involved. The victim, as Ms East told the paper, was not in critical condition and she was unsure if he stayed in hospital very long.
Mall manager Guy Leblanc told the Bulletin that he spent the better part of May 12 with the police going over video footage of the event. “We are collaborating closely with the investigators.”
