SPCA Western Quebec reopens after fire
The SPCA Western Quebec has reopened at 1658 Pink Road, not far from the old site that was destroyed by fire, July 2. The new location is next to the Mr Gas gas station on Pink Road near Auguste-Mondoux. The building was previously occupied by a tools company, Les Équipements DAX.
Multiple dogs are presently under the care of the shelter and cages are located at the back of the building. It is not known where the dogs are from.
The Bulletin has been unable to interview anyone from the SPCA Western Quebec since the fire. Multiple emails, phone calls and Facebook messages on the part of the Bulletin have gone unanswered.
The SPCA Western Quebec is a non-profit organization that is not affiliated with any other SPCAs in Canada.
At press time, little information was available. The one employee on-site caring for the animals August 20 answered few questions by the Bulletin. The Gatineau Police Department has told the Bulletin that it isn’t investigating the July fire.
