---- Selecting seniors' homes

 

I saw and heard of the horrors my parents had to live. Here's an idea. Let's applaud the seniors' homes that are clean, kind, healthy and happy for staff and residents. 

First, determine the most important features (for example, good healthy food, well-trained and -paid staff, high standards of attention and care, good communication with relatives, etc) and then, through regular and surprise visits, rate these homes. Then publicly list the measure for each requirement, with the "gold standard" symbol given to those who meet all standards. Focus groups of relatives and seniors themselves are a great way to find the most significant requirements.

By the way, a classy front lobby and super friendly marketing person are not what makes a good place to live.
