Second community consultation about Deschênes housing development near Aylmer-Vanier intersection to take place November 1
Greg Newing
A second public consultation concerning a possible new housing development near the Aylmer-Vanier intersection in the Deschênes neighbourhood will take place on Tuesday, November 1 at 7:00 pm. The consultation follows an earlier session held in June where residents provided feedback to developers Novatio Immobilier on their proposed plans for the development. If approved, the development, named "Communauté Aylmer-Vanier", will be south of the Aylmer-Vanier intersection between chemin d’Aylmer, Rue Nancy-Elliott, rue Lynn and rue Vanier.
At the gathering in June, the developers presented three possible building scenarios to give residents an idea of what the future housing development might look like. The first scenario included three 2-4 storey apartment buildings with parking spaces, the second scenario included a mixture of 4-5 storey and 8-10 storey apartment buildings, and the third scenario included several larger 12-15 storey apartment buildings with a new public park and soccer field.
Following the presentation, residents discussed each of the scenarios with the developers and then divided into smaller groups to brainstorm on ideas for the development and provide further feedback. Following the consultation session, residents were invited to use an online “Cocoricko” community consultation platform in order to discuss additional ideas for the project and to pose further questions.
At the upcoming session on November 1, Novatio Immobilier will present its revised plans, which take into account June’s community consultation and the further feedback provided through the online platform. Following the presentation will be a question period and a series of workshop discussion sessions.
The upcoming consultation on November 1 will take place at the DoubleTree Hotel at 1170 chemin d’Aylmer, in the “Chaudière A” conference hall. It is open to all interested residents and no registration is required.
