Another sign warm weather is coming was APICA’s announcement, March 18 at the Bistro Mexicana 129, for the special event called Rue Principale Sweetens Up to be held March 28 and 29 on Aylmer’s rue Principale.
The spring festival along Aylmer’s main street includes maple-inspired products concocted by a dozen merchants -- maple cotton candy, pastries, thematic table d'hôtes, and more.“Maple syrup time is the first sign of spring. Inviting Aylmerites to visit the stores with this theme is exciting. There’s action on rue Principale!” said Martine Boily, co-owner of Bistro L'Autre Oeil which will be offering maple beer over that weekend.
Another novelty this year is the “sweeten-up passport”. Participants use the passport to visit participating merchants and obtain stamps. Fully-stamped passports will be entered in a draw for a $50 gift certificate, valid at participating businesses.
Aylmer wood sculptor, Josh Dagg, will be in action Saturday in front of Café Mulligan. The Salamandre Art School is hosting a collective art project, March 28, and Boutique Peaberry will host a post-card workshop. “Rue Principale sweetens up” will also feature the newest merchant on rue Principale, The Vilains Pêcheurs will offer maple-inspired snacks Saturday and Sunday at 150 rue Principale.
