LETTER
Response to J-P Perreault’s letter on McGill
OMG, Jean-Paul! I would think that that soapbox of yours must be awfully worn out by now! I have been reading the same anti-English rants from you for almost 40 years: Man the barricades! Call out the storm troopers! This must be stopped! The French language is in mortal danger!
(I get now why you use exclamation points so much. It really looks cool … and emphatic! And it really, really helps to get the point across!! If I were McGill, after that much punctuation, I’d sure be paying attention!!!)
I’m certain you don’t know this, and I really hate to tell you, but it appears that post-secondary education in Quebec is not subject to the language law! I’m sure you won’t be happy about this - but someone needs to tell you and I guess it may as well be me - McGill can educate whoever it wishes to educate, in whatever language it wishes to educate!
Huh! Go figure! Imagine … adults choosing the language of their own instruction! It’s plain revolutionary, I tell you!!!
P.S. I agree completely with Dan Hovdebo’s letter: Economic growth, improved education and medical care; that’s a triple bonus for the Outaouais, period, no exclamation point
Rick Henderson,
Aylmer!
