Reply to Dr Shaver

Dr Shaver wishes to use the COVID-19 outbreak as a threat to us: we can’t respond to COVID  if we don’t OK all energy projects! According to him resource royalties are the only source of government funding, apart from taxes. But “the required funding could come from a prosperous Canadian energy industry,” he insists. 

However, he mentions an alternative which escaped his attention – and one he would never stomach!  China, he tells us, built two large hospitals in 10 days.  Is Dr Shaver suggesting that a Communist system is more efficient, better able to respond to emergencies like pandemics?  Seems so.

So I suggest the good doctor get down off his private-health care bandwagon (he seems to write regularly) and take a closer look at the efficiencies and priorities of a communist state!  Over to you, Doctor.
