Repeat offender charged for 156 km/hr, BMW seized
Gatineau Police stopped a vehicle on Lucerne Boulevard, at 2 am, June 16. Police arrested a 30-year-old male for driving while under the influence of alcohol. His blood alcohol level was three times the legal limit.
Police were alerted by the sound of a car engine running at high speed. Officers recorded the BMW heading west doing 156km/hour in a 70km/hour zone.
While at the police station for sobriety testing, the driver was found to have a suspended licence in Ontario and is prohibited from driving in Quebec.
The Ontario resident must appear before the Court of Quebec to face the drunk driving charge, plus five others for excessive speeding and driving without a licence. He was fined $3,300 and 20 points. The 2010 BMW has been impounded for 90 days because the accused is a re-offending drunk driver.
