Remembering Joy Ruttan

 

I would like to thank you for the lovely profile of our mother, Joy Ruttan, in the March 30th edition of the Bulletin.  You captured some of her essence well in your piece.  Mum loved Aylmer and it is comforting to see that Aylmer loved her in return. 
    Mum recognized that community newspapers have a very special role to play in building and sustaining a spirit of connection among neighbours, and she read yours from cover to cover. It was not uncommon for her to clip and send us articles from the Aylmer Bulletin in her regular correspondence.    I can imagine how she would have clipped this one, perhaps adding a note that she didn't quite understand why there was all this fuss about her, and sent it along to us.
