Radioactive voting
I have either read the election material or else I have actually listened to candidates (some, at least) speak in person and at their question periods (where they was one) I asked every possible candidate what they will do about the proposed huge, radioctive dump upstream from Gatineau and Ottawa. Not one mentioned the dump in their talk. Several agreed with me that it represents an "existential threat' (as they say) to the entire population of Western Quebec and Eastern Ontario, not to mention the threat it poses through daily leaking into our city's water supply. I told each one I will cast my vote on the basis of this single issue -- and that many others are saying the same thing. At our cottage in Norway Bay in the Pontiac, the nuclear dump is a common topic of conversation. I haven't heard one person defend it as a good thing for us here -- or for Canada. Especially their plan to build and spread a new generation of smaller (multi-story facilities) reactors!
I urge Bulletin readers to use the dump as a crucial decision-maker in your voting intentions!
