Quiet neighbourhood hit by tire theft

A Maucaillou Street family awoke on July 30 to find something very unusual in front of their house.  Individuals had stolen two tires with rims – right off the family’s 2009 Acura – overnight.
   
No one in the neighbourhood reported hearing activity. One explanation is that most residents had their air conditioning on, with their windows closed. Neighbours were dumbfounded; nothing like this had happened before, no break-ins or thefts. Even more surprising, the delinquents used blocks from the next-door neighbour’s garden to keep the vehicle suspended while removing the tires. The victims photographed their vehicle after the theft for the police and insurance investigators.

“Maucaillou Street is family-populated and a peaceful neighborhood ... we are so surprised that this could happen here,” the victim told the Bulletin. “I didn’t notice anything suspicious in the last few weeks.” He said he thought he was still dreaming when he saw his main transportation up on blocks. The police officer responding, according to the family, said he also couldn’t believe what he saw.

To avoid such incidents, police recommend residential lighting, especially over home entry-points and around the property.
