Quebec Afro-folk a big draw to Aylmer
Parc de l’Imaginaire presented a real treat of music to the large crowd that showed up to listen to ILAM, July 5. The band delivered music filled with different musical spices, beats that had a very unique style, combining a rhythmic blend of reggae and blues with inclinations of Afro-folk, and accents of pop and rock. The lead singer’s voice evoked depth and power in a mesmerizing and fun-filled atmosphere. There was plenty of warmth in ILAM’s delivery with people eventually really getting involved singing and dancing along.
ILAM received already several recognitions and awards to his credit. He was warmly applauded and rewarded at the "Vitrine des Musiques Locales Métissées", a Montreal contest and showcase, receiving both the Award of "Public's Favourite" and "Équipe Spectra's Favourite". In January 2015, the Arts Council of Montreal rewarded ILAM with the prize for the recording of his first demo on Canadian soil, soon followed by Quebec's Arts Council and Music action support for recording his first EP released in November 2015. Since then, he has been nominated as Radio Canada’s “World Music Revelation".
