Problem intersection: Wychwood Promenade, Lake Street and Lucerne Boulevard
City works for Wychwood
The City has redesigned the intersection of Wychwood Promenade, Lake Street and Lucerne Boulevard in order to improve the safety of this location.
Many residents have voiced their concerns to the Aylmer District Councillor Audrey Bureau. The street was designed in an awkward way with a bike path right in the middle of the cross roads.
Part of Lake Street was re-paved. At the same time, the City standardized this irregular intersection, which was made a little smaller.
Before this work, the artery was considered unsafe for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians, according to Gatineau. Part of the bike path was moved a bit further from the road so that drivers can better see the bikers.
