Police arrest three minors in Aylmer for theft from cars
Thanks to the alertness of an Aylmer citizen, Gatineau police were able to catch three minors who were stealing from cars near the Broad Street and des Allumettières intersection early in the morning of September 1.
“We encourage people to check the contents of their cars to determine whether they may have been victims of theft during the night of August 31-September 1. If so, we encourage them to make a complaint so that we can link it with the three persons we intercepted on September 1,” explains Jean-Paul Lemay, spokesperson for the Service de police de la Ville de Gatineau (SPVG).
Following their arrest, the three minors were released unconditionally, but the SPVG has opened an investigation. Thefts from cars are a common problem in Gatineau that can easily be avoided.
“It is as simple as locking the car doors. Thieves are not ready to break a car window to access the interior, but when they come upon unlocked doors, they go fishing and sometimes have a good catch,” explains Mr Lemay.
As usual, the SPVG encourages citizens to lock their car doors and to remove money or valuables from their cars. (Trans.: CB)
