LETTER
Playing in the streets means more awareness for everyone
I read with interest the editorial about playing in the streets. Where I live, my neighbours use the street as an extension of their living space. It is a residential street with not much traffic. While I encourage a fit lifestyle and family activities, I do worry that visitors to the street won’t slow down enough to avoid a terrible accident. Even I drive too quickly when I leave my own familiar neighbourhood. But I remind myself that my street is no different from other streets – and could be, as Ms Ryan wrote – the place where a five-year old is learning to ride a bike. I urge all Aylmerites to simply slow down their driving during after-school times and weekends.
