Pedneaud-Jobin is still monitoring the situation

During the press conference following city council’s summer break, Maxime Pedneaud-Jobin expressed his concern about delays in waste collection by the city’s subcontractor Derichebourg.

“We are aware that there is a problem. Derichebourg has made adjustments and we will continue to monitor the situation to ensure that they respect their contract and  to help each other since they are experiencing difficulties in hiring enough workers. But that does not excuse the fact that they must respect their contract. We don’t want this to happen again.” 

Derichebourg was fined $10,500 this summer due to several delays in its collection operations, particularly in the east end of the city. Following these sanctions at the end of July, things seem to have returned to normal for the time being.

When asked about the possibility of terminating the contract with the waste collection company, the mayor insisted on cooperation first and compliance with the contract signed with the French company, setting aside the possibility of terminating the signed agreement worth over $40 million.
