Park almost anywhere you want and please stay home
To encourage residents to stay at home during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ville de Gatineau has decided to temporarily lift its street parking by-law.
According to a press release issued by the city on March 18, parking is now essentially limitless at all hours. However, the by-law remains in effect in cases of paid parking zones, spots designated for the handicapped, no-stopping zones, prohibited areas, less than five metres from a fire hydrant, stop signs or intersections, areas designated for emergency vehicles, as well as on sidewalks and curbs.
For the time being, winter parking rules will not apply; thus, vehicles can be parked on the street overnight.
