Painted ladies of Aylmer: a lecture
An illustrated presentation by restoration architect Louise McGugan of “Painted ladies", which is a term in American architecture used for Victorian and Edwardian houses and buildings painted in three or more colors that embellish or enhance their architectural details was held October 19 at the Symmes Inn Museum.
Louise McGugan is a member of the Ontario Association of Architects, the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada and is a partner in Barry Padolsky Associates Inc. McGugan's lecture included a historical overview of Aylmer at the turn of the last century with present-day photographs and streetscapes, and also added a few images of San Francisco's painted ladies.
