Our drinking water is still good! 

Last year, readers of the Bulletin d’Aylmer may recall me commenting on how good the water tasted in Aylmer. I’m happy to report that this is still the case. I’m glad because I’m on a new medication that research has shown to slow the growth of polycystic kidney disease, which I inherited from my father. One side-effect is that I’m more thirsty, so I drink even more water.

I’m now a local volunteer for the Kidney Foundation of Canada. We are planning several events, leading up to the Outaouais Kidney Walk, June 2. This is the Foundation’s major source of donations every year.

Between April 6 and 28, volunteers (including myself) will go door-to-door, seeking donations for our cause. When a Kidney Foundation representative knocks at your door, please be generous!

On Saturday, April 27, on the concourse beside Pharmaprix at Les Galeries de Hull between 10 am and 5 pm, you can find out if you are at risk of kidney disease. A registered nurse will check vital signs, with information, for anyone who stops by our kiosk.
