LETTER
Our Aylmer Fire Department and 911!
On Thursday, February 16, at about 7:15 pm, a pop sounded above my ceiling fan. Sparks and then flames were seen. My son called 911, while I rushed to get the cat, move my vehicle from the lane and make room for entry into my home. Our Aylmer Fire Department arrived within 5 minutes with three large fire units! They immediately accessed the situation: two firemen went up through the crawl space dressed in bunkers with gear to tackle the flames. The officer in charge kept control from below and kept me informed, even asking for input, and took all my suggestions and help.
These guys were so prepared as to even bring and lay drop sheets to stop the water and debris from falling on my carpet. Talk about fast, call it efficient -- you had to have been there!
These firemen were so efficient, sincere, and clean. The damage to access the flames was minimal. The “Sinistre” the next day (talk about great insurance) said they have never seen such clean and minimal damage caused by a fire department. Every move was indicated to me with respect.
They capped the electrical circuit in the roof and restored power to my home before leaving.
Credit should also be given to 911 who responded to our call with fury. Two questions were asked after two rings on the phone: Are you going to evacuate? How big are the flames? Next time you meet a Firemen or 911 officer, look them in the eyes and say hi! and thank you!
As for insurance, you get what you pay for!!!
