Operation spring cleaning in Aylmer
Each spring, Gatineau proceeds to a major cleanup. The operation should start before the end of April and will run for approximately eight weeks. The cleanup operation takes place simultaneously in all sectors.
During this operation, the city cleans streets, islets of main arteries, sidewalks, parks and recreational paths. As done in previous years, some sections of bike paths have also been identified as a priority to be swept.
Some areas may still be covered with snow or ice and require postponing some operations.
The cleanup operation covers more than 2,800 km of streets and 600 km of sidewalks and paths as well as 100 parking lots, 5,348 intersections and 15 traffic circles.
During the summer, public works employees are responsible for the maintenance of recreational paths. Some paths throughout the city are owned by the National Capital Commission and therefore maintained by the commission.
