LETTER
Open letter to Will Amos on tax changes
I am writing because your leader Justin Trudeau (plans to) raise taxes on middle-class farmers and local businesses, and you seem dead-set on remaining silent.
What do these tax increases mean? If you’re looking for your first job, you might have fewer local businesses that can afford to hire you. If you’re a farmer, it may be more complicated and expensive to pass your farm to your kids. If you’re an entrepreneur, it may be harder to save for retirement. If you need a family doctor, it might become harder to find one.
The new Trudeau taxes will mean up to a 73% tax on investments by some small businesses and farmers. Multinationals with billionaire CEOs will not pay a penny more. How is this fair to people in the Pontiac?
Your job is to stand up for the Pontiac, even if it means disagreeing with your own party. Several Liberal MPs have spoken out against these tax increases, but you remain silent.
You promised to lower small business taxes to 9%. You broke that promise, and you haven’t done a proper consultation with people here to discuss your new tax increases.
Mr Amos, it’s not too late to speak out. Tell Justin Trudeau that these tax increases are bad for the Pontiac.
