Open letter to the Prime Minister on cannabis 

I believe it is wise to decriminalize or legalize cannabis, but I am worried about its commercial production and marketing.

As we all know, the tobacco companies have transformed their product to increase profits; they have added chemicals (many of them leading to cancer) to preserve tobacco longer, to make it burn faster… and so many others that it seems the list does not fit on a pack of cigarettes anymore.

How can we be assured that the cannabis companies will not do the same for better profits? Are there guidelines for the production and transformation that would regulate this temptation?  I am also concerned about the genetic manipulation of cannabis – which is well underway.

I wish to thank you for allowing the personal growing opportunity which will let people grow organic cannabis at home. May these concerns enlighten Mr Legault in his hostile control of the production and sales of cannabis.
